On Tuesday, January 18th, Mr. Huntley Harrison's 8th Grade STEM class visited the Chatham Airport as part of the Transportation segment of the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics curriculum. The class has been studying the various parts of an airplane and their function, as well as the principles of flight with a concentration on the physics of the four fundamental forces that affect flight – lift, thrust, weight, and drag. Experiments have been done that illustrate Bernoulli's Principle of lift and Newton's laws of motion. Our thanks go out to Ms. Jill Douglas, the airport manager, for facilitating the trip.
